Attention
I was reading an article that interested me about attention. Attention is how information in our surroundings is interpreted. Attention is how we take in certain stimuli and process it. There are many stimuli in the environment that send information to our brain to be interpreted. Examples of this are our posture, breathing, temperature, other people, and many other stimuli. Therefore, the CNS is flooded with large amounts of information at any given time. In order for us to focus on a single project we need to actively "tune out" the other stimuli so our focus is on the project at hand. This allows us to be completly focused on one thing, while eliminating the other non-important information. I personally found it interesting that attention is an active process. I do not find myself thinking about it when I am using "attention processes". Therefore, it was interesting to learn that our mind is able to focus on a single stimuli, while setting other non-essential information aside for the time being.
