Searching the Internet increases brain function

http://www.newsroom.ucla.edu/portal/ucla/ucla-study-finds-that-searching-64348.aspx

There is hope for middle aged and older adults for sharpening our minds. According to this study, the first of its kind, we may benefit physiologically from cruising the net. The older we get the less activity our brains have, but the use of the net encourages us to use a greater extent neurl circitry that is not activated during reading. Only in those with internet experience, but with more time the others could possibly show more brain activation patterns. The only flaw that I can see is in the limited number of participants in this study. Also the parts of the the brain that registered activity during this study were the temporal, parietal, occipital and the cingulate area which controls decision making and complex reasoning. All in all old dogs can learn new tricks if you use other methods thinking.

  2. I agree this article is very interesting. The internet is like a learning book with and infinite number of pages that go on and on and on. A person can find anything he or she wants on the internet. Our technology these days just keeps expanding. But I do have to say that my grandfather doesn't even know how to turn on a computer let alone get on the internet and he is a very intelligent man. Which may be due to his life experiences and memory of those experiences. But I am sure he could definately increase his brain activity by surfing the internet as anyone really could. HMMM....very interesting!

  3. Thats intriguing, although I don't understand why you would need a study done towards it. It seems a rather obvious conclusion

  5. That is a very true statement for the most part. Internet can help you learn more things and keep you up to date on most things. But we can not always believe what we see on the internet because it is not always true sometimes is the slightest true. But yes for the most it can help the tendency of the older ages to keep up with technology and keep there minds creative and be aware of how to use it which can be a good thing . You just have to be careful for somethings that are on the web.
