How to Banish Bad Habits and Control Temptations

Can we control our bad habits if we decide to monitor them closely? Temptation plays a large factor in everyday lives. It’s hard at times going places and paying close attention to the when temptation is right at your grasps. Especially if you were giving into your bad habit for while. Very easy to just say O.K...Vigilant monitoring is said to be a relative in helping break bad habits. But weak habits are hard to control. Temptation is worse than habits. Which is worse temptation or the habits it’s self? Me I think that both play a huge role in it.
Temptation is hard to break when you already have the bad habit into play. The bad habit makes it worse because the more you give into to that habit the harder down the line it will be to break it altogether. All in all you need to find a different habit that is better to change the old habits. Something that is more positive than it is bad. The worst part is temptation will always be there any never goes away.

  1. I personally believe the habit has to be at least some what broke or decreased before you can even have temptation to do it. Control of temptation may have a major role in keeping the habit extinct. How can you have a temptation to do something your already doing? I think control and being aware of a addiction to a habit may help break the habit. Although you would have to be able to control the the Temptation to keep the habit extinct.

  2. It takes 21 days to break a habit or form a new one. It may be difficult but it can be done. The second part of breaking a habit is avoiding the temptation in the first place. If you smoke when you drink and quit smoking; avoid the bar for awhile. If you quit drinking, don't go to the bar. If you quit drugs, get away from the people you used to do drugs with. Bad habits can be broken but you have to make a conscious decision to avoid the temptation of starting again.

  3. I quit smoking almost a month ago so my smoking habit but be over. Also, I did stay away from temptation the first two weeks-I think that is a persons most weakest time. It seems very easy now not to smoke; I just have to be careful and never touch a cigarette again.

  4. I believe that you can change and control your bad habits if done correctly. If temptation is thrown into the mix, it becomes extremely difficult to keep your habits from arising. If you plan, or want, to stop bad habits, you first need to stay away from temptation. Temptation can bring the strongest willed people to their knees.
