"Cool Fact" Experiments

http://www.skygaze.com/content/facts/psychology.shtml

In this article that I have found on this website states an interesting fact about termites. Studies at a couple different colleges have shown that heavy metal music not only amps up humans but termites. Studies have shown that when introducing heavy metal to theses insects caused them to chew through wood at twice the speed as the would normally. I think this is cool because it is interesting to see how music or hearing can effect or actions or stimulate the brain. If you have some house work to do listen to heavy metal and you might get your work done twice as fast.

  1. in the article "Music for dog's" by Joy Butler she discusses the interesting parallels between dog behaviors and music. she found that one vibration can alter another and that external rhythms can speed up and slow down internal functions in the brain, heart and respiration of living things. Joy said that complex music increases energy while simple music has a relaxing effect. the study also says, relating to your article about termites, that heavy metal music makes dog's stand and bark alot and classical music makes them rest more.

  2. I think music has always had some affect on both animals and humans. heavy metal may have any affect because of how loud and fast the music is.

  3. If you've ever been to a rock concert, you'll have this same effect. People scream, swing at each other, and jump around and in the air because of all the adrenaline. Sure, you may leave with a couple black eyes and broken bones, and a complete loss of hearing, but it just wouldn't be so amusing without the volume and intensity of the music.

  4. That is a interesting study I believe it too as when you listen to faster pased music it makes you want to do things and get things done where slower music you tend to relax and maybe even take a nap. Example a fast song you get on the dance floor and boogie with your firends and a slow song you tend to grab a close loved one if you have one and dance slowly in their arms
